Set up a ring group¶
Create a shared line — like Sales or Support — that rings several extensions at once, or one after another, instead of just a single desk.
Who this is for: admins
Before you start¶
- The extensions you want to ring should already exist. See Create an extension and assign it to a user if you need to add people first.
Steps¶
- In the sidebar, under Communication, select Ring Groups.
- Select Create Ring Group in the top right of the page.
- Enter a Name (for example, "Sales Team") and an optional Description. The Extension field is auto-suggested for you and can't be edited.
- Choose a Ring Strategy:
- Simultaneous — ring all members at the same time
- Sequential — ring members one at a time in order
- Enterprise — ring in tiers based on each member's delay setting
- Rollover — ring the next available member
- Random — ring a random member
- Set the Ring Timeout (how many seconds to ring before giving up) and an optional Caller ID Prefix shown on members' phones.
- Under Members, select Add Member for each person or number you want in the group. For each one, pick their extension from the dropdown and set a delay (seconds before their phone starts ringing) and timeout (how long their phone rings before moving on). Use the up/down arrows to reorder members — order matters for the Sequential and Enterprise strategies.
- Optionally tick Forward if no answer and enter an extension or phone number to send the call to if nobody in the group picks up within the timeout.
- Select Create Ring Group to save.
To add or remove members later, find the group in the list and select the row's expand arrow, then use Add Member or the trash icon next to an existing member. Use the pencil icon to edit the group's settings, or the trash icon on the group's row to delete it entirely.
