Add, swap, and manage phone numbers

Add a phone number to your Phonovo account from the available pool, or swap a number you already have for a different one.

Who this is for: admins and users with the Phone Numbers menu item enabled — access to this page isn't restricted to admins by the app, but it can be restricted per-tenant via menu permissions

Before you start

  • Access to the Phone Numbers page in your Phonovo portal.
  • Check the monthly cost shown on each number before adding or swapping to it. Numbers marked £0.00 are free; others (including vanity numbers) carry a recurring monthly charge that's invoiced as soon as you confirm.
  • Adding a number here puts it on your account — it doesn't send calls anywhere yet. To have a number actually ring an extension, IVR menu, or ring group, it still needs to be pointed at one via your inbound call routing.

Steps

  1. In the sidebar, under Administration, select Phone Numbers.
  2. Numbers already on your account are listed under Your Phone Numbers, each showing its area code, region, and monthly cost.
  3. To add a new number, select Add Number in the top right. In the Add Phone Number dialog, use the Search numbers... field and the region dropdown to narrow down the list, then select a number's card to add it.
  4. If the number you picked has a monthly cost, a Confirm Paid Number dialog opens showing the price. Select Add Number to confirm the charge and complete the addition, or Cancel to back out.
  5. To replace a number you already have, find its card under Your Phone Numbers and select Swap. The Swap [number] dialog opens with the same search and region tools — pick a replacement number the same way as adding one.
  6. If the replacement carries a monthly cost, confirm it in the Confirm Paid Swap dialog that appears before the swap completes.

Note

Already have a number with another provider that you'd like to move over instead of picking a new one? Select Port Number on this same page to start that process, which works differently and takes longer than adding or swapping a number from the pool.

Ask Olivia

You can also ask Olivia, the in-portal assistant, to walk you through this.
