Configure a customer's outbound calling and carrier limits

Turn on outbound calling for a customer, choose which call types they're allowed to dial, and set concurrent-call and monthly-minute limits.

Who this is for: partners (resellers)

Before you start

  • A SIP gateway must already be assigned to the customer's domain before you can turn on outbound calling for them. If one isn't assigned yet, you'll see a banner telling you so (see step 3 below) — contact your Phonovo account manager to get a gateway assigned, then come back to this screen.
  • Know the call types you want to allow: international, premium rate, and satellite calls are all off by default and priced/risked differently — only turn on what the customer actually needs.

Steps

  1. In the sidebar, under Customers, select Customers.
  2. Find the customer, then either open the row's actions menu and select Edit Settings, or open the customer and select Edit in the detail view.
  3. In the Edit Customer dialog, select the Outbound Calling tab (between General and Teams). If you see an amber No Gateway Assigned banner here, outbound calling can't be turned on yet for this customer — contact Phonovo to have a SIP gateway assigned, then return to this tab.
  4. Switch on the Outbound Calling toggle at the top of the tab. This saves immediately, separately from the rest of the settings on this tab, and enables the fields below.
  5. Under Destination Categories, review what's allowed:
    • UK Emergency and UK Domestic are always on and can't be turned off.
    • International Standard, Premium Rate, and Satellite are off by default — each shows a risk level (Low, Medium, and High respectively). Switch on only the ones this customer needs.
  6. Set Concurrent Calls Limit — the maximum number of simultaneous outbound calls, from 1 to 100 (defaults to 5).
  7. Set Monthly Minutes Limit if you want to cap this customer's outbound minutes for the month, or leave it blank for unlimited.
  8. Optionally fill in Caller ID (Optional) — a Name and Number to use as the outbound caller ID for this customer.
  9. Select Save Settings. A Settings Saved confirmation appears once it's done.

Reviewing usage

Near the top of the tab — directly under the Gateway banner, above the Destination Categories and limit fields — Current Month Usage shows total calls, total minutes, international minutes, and remaining minutes for the current month (this reads "Unlimited" if you haven't set a monthly cap). If a monthly limit is set, a progress bar shows minutes used against the limit — it turns amber at 80% used and red once the limit is reached; these colour thresholds are fixed and aren't something you configure. Further down the tab, after the settings form, a Usage History table shows the last 12 months of calls and minutes for this customer.
